Say Hello to Dennis McCallister
Star center football player of Thomas Jefferson High school, and master of the pompadour. Also, my first ever character model. I tried to keep his design relatively simple, and very stylistic as seen in the original 2-D sketches that I used for modeling reference. His face took the longest time, but was the most rewarding, and overall has the best edge flow going for it. I researched a lot of edge loop techniques so that he would be ready for rigging and facial animation. He has a full mouth of teeth, tongue and mouth bag, along with some small button eyes. His body is a classic barrel chested, short legged teenager from the 1950s. No extravagant clothing done on him, as I feel it works out easier and will allow the focus to be on the animation when he’s in that stage. His calves, thighs, and butt are also super satisfying to me because it hints at the character’s muscle structure without breaking the simple lines.
I cannot wait to rig and animate him, and have many actions for him to pull off. As seen, I’ve got the base skeleton laid out, up next is putting the IK rigs on.
